There's a lot of reviews and my english is not good enough to describe my thoughts about this camera and lens, but I noticed big difference between picture and video quality (I am still using APS-C camera - Canon 60D and I took many photos and videos too with Canon 300/4 IS and Canon 60/2.8 macro lens).
I really like low noise at high iso (2000 is barely visible, 12800 is still ok when you will reduce noise, but max and useful, without losing much quality is 6400), better DOF and picture quality (sharper images, very low level of moire).
What I don't like? Sensor is a "dust magnet", so after a thousands of shots, I see black spots at f/8.0 -f/13, especially in the corners (which is very annoying in macro with my second lens - Canon 100/2.8 L macro IS).

I want to show you unboxing video and continous shooting test (with 100/2.8 L macro IS too) and photos (with exif data).

Sample video
First two scenes (fire) recorded without external microphone, handheld (aperture at f/5.6).
Last two scenes (cyclists) with Rode Video Mic. I used camera rig (aperture at f/5.6 in the first scene & 4.0 in the second scene).
IS on + software stabilization. No sharpening etc. I changed only level of brightness and saturation (even on neutral settings, color - especially red, is too saturated).
In my opinion, image stabilizer in this lens is not good enough for videos and this feature is better in the latest lenses (like 70-200/2.8 IS II).

Video quality test.
My priority was to take photos (it was my first time on a american football match), so I recorded few scenes (handheld, no external microphone, no color correction). First generation of IS will not help too much and it's not easy to use this focal lenght. Video quality is good, but better to use this lens for photos only or on tripod/camera rig, mainly in static scenes.

Canon 300mm f/4.0 & Kenko TC 1.4x mc4 dgx (420mm f/5.6)
Pros:
- good picture quality at 6.3 in the center, acceptable at 7.1 - 10.0;
- price
Cons:
- high level of vignetting (only on full frame)
- poor picture quality in corners
- slower autofocus
